About

So 2 years after I graduated I decided I was up for a new adventure...So here I am in Israel teaching English and getting my masters! Look for my picture and stories here...I will try not to bore you all too much....but I am sure it won't be long until I run into a wall or hit someone with falafel by accident, so no worries!

Looking for something specific?

Heartbreak and Hospitals

Yet again I am going to begin my blog with an apology. I really am trying to get better at this, I swear. I’ve got two years though right? So maybe I will improve over this period of time. As for now, I have a lot to catch everyone up on. Since my last entry I have started University, had a visit to Ichilov Hospital and ended things with Motti. Phew!

Let’s start at the beginning. I ended my Sukkot break with the ending of a “relationship”. Things with Motti were getting frustrating and I was debating whether or not I wanted to end things when Motti showed up at my apartment saying “we needed to talk”. For those of you that are wondering that phrase means the same thing in every language. After he spoke to me with a detachment and rudeness that I had never seen I was upset but aware that this was DEFINITELY the best thing for me. I went back upstairs, was comforted by friends, and got ready to do what every 24 year old does after a little heartbreak…go out drinking and dancing! My friends and I went out to a great club and danced the night away. I had a great time and Motti was soon forgotten.

After Sukkot, it was time to start University at Bar Ilan. The campus is absolutely gorgeous; waterfalls courtyards and beautiful, unique architecture make me want to stay outside all day, which is problematic when trying to get pumped up about sitting in a university classroom for the first time in 3 years. Some of my classes are very interesting, and I am actually looking forward to writing a couple of my seminar papers (I know I know, cough “big nerd” cough cough). I am taking a Jewish philosophy class for the first time, which I was initially excited about but the professor has a voice that could lull a screaming baby to sleep.

I am also taking a Curriculum Development course with a very sweet man who slightly resembles Santa Claus. Unfortunately, I have not been able to experience a full class of his because in the middle of the first class I started getting shooting pains through my body then the right side of my body went numb. Not the best feeling in the world I have to say. My roommate and I took a cab back to Tel Aviv and then called for a doctor to come. The doctor was a very nice man..who spoke NO English. I broke out the Hebrew/English dictionary, used a LOT of hand motions, and practiced the little Hebrew I already know. Eventually we figured everything out, just as my Hebrew speaking friend arrived at my apartment to translate. Very useful Dan, very useful.

Dan, however, was very useful (and wonderful for that matter) in the time following because the doctor sent me to the hospital. After 6 and half hours of tests, as well as a surgical and neurological consult they still had no idea what was wrong with me. I don’t recall people having this much trouble on Grey’s Anatomy. On the bright side I made new friends while I was there! They told me the reason it was taking so long was because I looked way to happy to be a patient. I apparently need to work on my unhappy whining look….

I am still not sure exactly what is wrong with me. I have been to 2 doctors since the hospital trip and they think it has something to do with my spine but they are not sure exactly what the problem is, so I am waiting to hear back about more tests. It is all up in the air but I am doing better and I am sure it will all be figured out soon! I will have updates on that, my new and improved life at school and all the juicy love life stuff next time I post, so stay tuned….
